For small businesses, reviews are important. With positive reviews, they can flourish. With negatives ones though, and business can all but dry up. Reviews can make or break them. They are that important.

Proactive online reputation management can build trust with new and returning customers, as well as increase the visibility in local search.

According to Joy Hawkins, these are the latest trends we should be checking out in local reviews:

  1. More users are leaving 1- and 5-star reviews and fewer are leaving 2 and 3 stars.
  2. Fewer people report that they “trust reviews as much as personal recommendations.”
  3. Fake reviews are on the rise.
  4. Reviews decreased last year due to COVID-19.
