“Why… How are desktop and mobile ranking different when we’ve already been switched to mobile first indexing?”
This was asked by somebody who was curious about how to diagnose the reason a sight wouldn’t preform as well in a mobile search, but does really well in desktop.
Google\’s John Mueller stepped up to answer, pointing out that indexing and rankings are not the same beast, but actually two.
Although Google made the move to mobile-first indexing, mobile and desktop searching won’t be treated equally.
